13[and] to keep the commandments and statutes of AO that I am giving you this day1 for your own good2?
Translation Notes
1Note “commandments and statutes” given “this day” aka the day Moses went back up the Mount for the replacement stone tablets. How can this have been only the “Ten Commandments” when “statutes” are already present here.
2Torah is life. No command is arbitrary or capricious but all designed to ensure we live long, beautiful lives. For example, an integral part of a long life is good health, hence the dietary restrictions.
